GET TO KNOW ME

Hi, I’m Jessica!

I use she/her pronouns.

Jessica Edwards

My Professional Story

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Career Counselor based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I’m also a neurodivergent human who brings lived experience, compassion, and curiosity to every session.

Before launching Cyan Counseling Services in 2021, I worked as a therapist, career counselor, academic advisor, and disability services counselor in both college and high school settings. Today, I specialize in helping young adults through midlife navigate ADHD, Autism, executive functioning, and major life transitions—with warmth, humor, and a collaborative, client-centered approach.

2023 and 2024 Uwill awards

In 2023 and 2024, I received the Uwill Chelsea Rundell Top 50 Counselor Award for my therapy work with Michigan college students.

Why “Cyan” Counseling?

In color psychology, Cyan represents clarity, renewal, and fresh perspectives. It embodies calmness and optimism—qualities that resonate with my therapeutic style. My practice is centered around these ideals, aiming to create an affirming space where stress decreases, insights become clearer, and meaningful growth is possible. Plus I love all shades of blue!

“When life feels tangled and unclear, I help you find your footing.”

What You Can Expect

When you join me for sessions, you can anticipate an informal atmosphere that’s truly tailored to your unique needs. Sessions might involve sharing experiences, brainstorming solutions, exploring insights from assessments, or simply discussing what’s on your mind.

We might end up swapping stories about our special interests, favorite video games, tattoos, craft projects, or even funny moments involving our pets. You are welcome to bring whatever helps you feel comfortable and engaged—fidgets, art supplies, or anything else that supports your experience. You might even catch glimpses of my ADHD in action as I excitedly jump between topics or occasionally search for just the right word.

My hope is that you’ll always leave sessions feeling lighter, clearer, and fully accepted exactly as you are.

A Personal Touch

Every photo you see on this website was taken by me right here in the beautiful state of Michigan. Photography helps me stay present, sparks my creativity, and reminds me to appreciate the little moments—qualities that naturally flow into our work.

My Personal Story

  • I was diagnosed with ADHD in my early 40s. Like many women and AFAB folks, I flew under the radar by masking and overcompensating. That diagnosis changed everything—and made me even more passionate about supporting others on their self-discovery journeys.
  • I live in a proudly neurodivergent household that’s noisy, creative, and always full of learning.
  • I was diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) in 2024, which has provided insight into a history of chronic pain and fatigue, deepening my understanding of invisible disabilities.
  • I love animals and currently am a servant to two cats. At least one of them will typically make an appearance in virtual sessions.
